New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi is going to run bulldozers at the main market of Paharganj. The vendors have been given an ultimatum to vacate the market area by Sunday.

The MCD has said that if the traders do not abide by the orders then police help will be sought on April 5. The local representatives along with the traders have protested against the MCD decree.

Last year during the ongoing preparations of Commonwealth Games, government took a decision to demolish Paharganj market for the beautification of the city.

The Sadar Paharganj zone of MCD had sent an ultimatum to the vendors to move their shops outside New Delhi station in order to strengthen the drive to widen the roads.

Meanwhile, local councilor Sunil Kakkar had a round of talks with the top MCD officials. He said, “We strongly oppose the MCD’s demolishment plan.”
