Amritsar:  A local Court on Tuesday sentenced opium smuggler Harbhajan Lal to 12 years of imprisonment after he was proved guilty in the case.

Justice Parminder Pal Singh ordered a 12 year imprisonment and a fine of Rs one lakh to the guilty Harbahajn Lal who was arrested with four kilograms of opium. And if unable to pay the fine he will have to serve the jail term for one more year.

After receiving information on smuggling activities that Harbhajan was involved in, the Special Narcotics Cell arrested him on November 4, 2008 from Duburji located on the G.T. road. The team recovered four kilograms of opium from a white colour Zen car which he owned. The narcotics team registered the case with the Sultanwind police station.
