It runs on Color OS 2.0, based on Android 4.4 and is packed with 2000mAh battery for long lasting usage. The phone gets Oppo's VOOC charging technology to enhance to get a 75% charge in 30 minutes.

Oppo's limited edition R5 also doesn't feature a 3.5mm audio jack but it gets a USB-to-3.5mm audio adaptor with the phone. To give more durable frame, instead of the commonly used aluminium alloy, higher-strength stainless steel has been used.
