Indore: Strongly defending Lokpal Bill, former Union Minister and BJP MP Maneka Gandhi criticized the opponents of the Bill terming them ‘anti-nationals’. She expressed doubts that the Bill may meet the same fate as the Bill on Women’s reservation.

Maneka Gandhi , who arrived here on Tuesday to participate in a function, speaking to media persons said, “The government is yet to pass the Women’s Bill which was tabled 20 years ago. I fear that Lokpal Bill would also meet the same fate.”

Those who have launched a canard campaign against the Bill are anti-nationals, she said, adding that such people would never like the passage of a bill which would hamper their interest.

“Anna Hazare and his follower s are good human beings. Anna never influenced people to join him in his crusade but common people who are frustrated with corruption in the country have come out on their own to support him,” Maneka added.

She said the way people stood behind Anna Hazare has given sleepless nights to corrupt people. Therefore, the need of the hour is to support the bill otherwise the corrupt elements would once again become powerful, she added.
