Chennai, (Agencies): Showing dissent over Speaker R Avudiyappan’s refusal to permit taking up certain issues in the Tamil Nadu Assembly,Opposition parties led by AIADMK on Saturday staged a walkout.

As soon as the question hour began, Deputy Leader of the AIADMK legislature O Pannerselvam rose and started reading out a statement on some issues.

However, Law Minister Duraimurugan intruded and said issues cannot be taken up during question hour, adding, Speaker's permission in this regard would be unprecedented.

When the Speaker allowed Pannerselvam to continue, he made some remarks which triggered strong reactions and noisy protests from the ruling DMK.

The Speaker then said that he would not permit the Opposition to ensue further following which AIADMK members raised slogans against the Speaker and staged a walkout. They were accompanied by allies MDMK and the Left parties.

Meanwhile, the Speaker expunged all the annotations made by Pannerselvam and proceeded with the question hour.
