Chennai: The joint protest by political parties on Thursday against hike in diesel price, FDI in multi-brand retail and disinvestment of a few PSUs would give a message to the Manmohan Singh government to "rollback the decisions or face the consequences", senior CPI leader D Raja said on Tuesday.

"The decision of the government is not only against the people but also against the interest of the nation as a whole", Raja said, adding that the September 20 protest would be massive against the decisions.

"The massive protest would give a message to the Manmohan Singh government that it should either roll back the decisions or face the consequences", he said.

Raja, National Secretary of CPI, said government should roll back the diesel price hike and give up decision on FDI in multi-brand retail. He said the disinvestment of PSUs would also adversely impact the economy which was already in a bad shape.
