Ranchi: A new ordinance to legalise the houses built on ‘raiyati’ land without its map clearance has been forwarded to the Jharkhand Governor for his approval.

According to sources, both governor M O H Farooq and Chief Minister Arjun Munda huddled together to discuss on the issue.

Under the provision of the ordinance, the house without its map clearance could be legalized after paying penalty. The penalty charge for residential building is less than that of commercial establishment.

Even government buildings will also come under the purview of the ordinance, if their map is not cleared.  According to an official, the penalty charge has been fixed Rs 40 per square for all such buildings.

Earlier high court had given direction to demolish all such illegal houses. The new move will bring much relief to thousands of people in the state.
