Nainital: Commenting on the challenges before the Indian Railways, Railway Board Chairman Vinay Mittal said the positive steps are being initiated to prevent the financial losses.

Mittal told the reporters the Railways are getting less number of demands for goods ferry leading to revenue loss.

After the implementation of the recommendations of the sixth Pay Commission, the Railways has incurred an additional debt of Rs 70, 000 crore.

Mittal said, “Required steps are being taken to check the train mishaps. The Railways is working on the installing Anti Collision Device between two bogies to lessen the gravity of mishap.”

Commenting on the encroachment on Railway land, Mittal said “Anti encroachment drive is being carried out with the support of the state governments.”
