Jaipur: Over 16,000 writers, critics, fans and publishers around the world are expected to pack the city streets for the upcoming five-day Jaipur Literature Festival which begins on January 20.

Around 250 national and international authors will take part in the Asia's largest literary extravaganza, which is also likely to be attended by Union ministers Kapil Sibal and Kumari Sejla, officials said here on Friday.

At a meeting of senior police and administration officials, Chief Secretary S Ahemad directed to make sure that proper law and order and other arrangements are in place in view of the festival.

He also asked officials of various departments for better coordination during the festival.

Meanwhile, minority group Khursheed Ahemad of Jamat-e- Islami Hind, said it will organize peaceful protest if author Salman Rushdie participates in the event.
