Chandigarh: Haryana's power utility Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has detected 7,245 cases of theft of power in the current fiscal with maximum number of theft cases found in Hisar and Gurgaon.
     
A penalty to the tune of Rs 18.48 crore has also been imposed on erring consumers.
     
The officials engaged in the operations wing and the enforcement wing of the Nigam carried 39,761 raids during the fiscal, of which 7,245 consumers were found committing power theft, a DHBVN spokesperson said here today.
     
The largest number of cases have been detected in the operation circle of Hisar at 1,870, followed by Gurgaon 1,706, Bhiwani 1,484, Faridabad 1,402, Sirsa 312, Rewari 250 and Narnaul 221.
