New Delhi: Believe it or not but over seventy thousand voters who are exercising their franchise in national capital are dead. The voting list of Delhi includes name of people who had already died last year or even before. The number of such people is above 1.25 lakh.

The shocking revelation came to light after booth level officers in Delhi made door to door campaign to verify the voter list. The survey also revealed that there are nearly 15 lakh fake voters in the national capital.

According to Vijay Dev, Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi nearly 11 percent of voters in the national capital are fake and around 78, 217 voters have already died whereas 6,60,407 people were not found at the addresses mentioned in the voter list.

The survey also revealed that not only the name of dead people figured in the voter list but they also cast their votes during last few elections. The revelation bears significance as the Opposition BJP had raised this issue earlier.

These irregularities have been found in several assembly constituencies. The Congress registered victory on such constituencies during 2008 assembly elections, while the BJP won the 2008 and 2012 local body elections.
