Chairing a meeting of the working committee of Uttarakhand Tourism's ADB aided infrastructure development and investment programme here, Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar gave his nod to a proposal to develop 13 places in Uttarakashi, Rudraprayag, Almora, Bageshwar, Champavat, Pauri, Pithoragarh and Chamoli districts as adventure tourism spots, an official release here said on Saturday.  

The spots identified for the purpose are Naugaon and Mori (Uttarkashi) , Kotgi Sem (Rudraprayag), Bhikiyasain and Kumariya (Almora), Kapkot (Bageshwar), Pancheshwar (Champavat), Satputli and Shrinagar (Pauri), Jauljivi and Munsyari (Pithoragarh) and Kaleshwar and Joshimath (Chamoli).

Depending on their geographical location, facilities for adventure sports activities like rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, trekking and mountain biking will be installed at these places at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 16 crore, the release said.  

The Chief Secretary also directed Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council to set up a dedicated adventure tourism wing.

He also issued orders to post one official each with expertise in adventure sports activities at all the adventure tourism destinations.

The Chief Secretary also gave his approval to a proposal to put up a total of 1,978 signboards both in English and Hindi across the state to lure tourists to its picturesque locations.
