Melbourne, Jan 26(Agencies): Rafael Nadal was the biggest name to crash out of Australian Open, losing 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 to David Ferrer in a match that ended his dream of a ‘Rafa Slam’ of holding all the Grand Slam titles in a year.
Nadal was battling fitness issues as he was even forced to take a break in the middle of the match. Ferrer did not miss the opportunity and romped to a straight set victory over the World No.1 player in the quarterfinals.
The victory has set a semifinal showdown between Ferrer and Britain’s Andy Murray.
