Parupalli Kashyap, who has been associated with Gopichand's badminton academy for a long time, decided to snap ties and shift his base to Bengaluru where he will be working on his rehabilitation process with coach Tom John at Tom's Badminton Academy.

Kashyap suffered a knee injury during German Open in March this year which rendered him incapable of participating in Malaysia Super Series Premier and Singapore Open. Adding to his miseries was prolonging of the injury because of which he could not participate in Rio Olympics.

Now that former Commonwealth gold medallist is undergoing a rehabilitation process, he chose to have a “change in atmosphere”, as quoted by the Times Of India.

On being asked about P Gopichand's reaction, he further added, “He didn't say much, but I'm sure he understands that I'm a senior player. He definitely didn't take it badly as he understood my situation”.
