Chandigarh: The procurement of paddy for the Kharif season 2012-13 has commenced in Haryana and a total of 20,155 tonnes of the crop has so far arrived in various mandis of the state.

Out of total arrival since Monday, the maximum quantity of paddy has arrived in district Kurukshetra at 11,948 tonnes, a spokesman of State's Food and Supplies Department said here today.

He said that six government agencies have so far procured 20,101 tonnes of paddy whereas the remaining quantity was procured by mill owners.

The spokesman also said that major portion of the total arrivals, which is 8,496 tonnes.
