Islamabad: Pakistan has released 1,132 Indian prisoners, mostly fishermen, since 2008 while India had freed 651 Pakistani prisoners during the same period, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said on Friday.

Khar provided the figures in a written reply in the National Assembly or lower house of the Parliament.
Giving details, she said 54 Indian civilians and 1,078 fishermen were freed by Pakistan.
India released 346 Pakistani civilians and 305 fishermen, she added.
India and Pakistan have taken several steps in recent months to expedite the release of prisoners, especially fishermen who are arrested for inadvertently crossing the maritime boundary.
