Wazir Khan Afridi, a renowned singer of the Khyber Agency, has to his credit more than 40 audio and video albums.

Afridi was killed when gunmen opened indiscriminate firing in the Faqir Killay area, which is a suburban locality in Peshawar.
Earlier, there were reports that the singer was facing threats from militants who were asking him to stop singing.
Afridi had earlier claimed that he had been abducted three times from Peshawar and was freed each time on the condition that he would not sing anymore, the reports said.

Wazir, however, continued singing and claimed that it was his only source of income.

Afridi’s decision did not go well with these militants and as a consequence of his continuous defiance, they gunned him down.
