Pakistan Army troops opened small and medium weaponry firing and lobbed rocket-propelled grenades in Mendhar sub-sector of Poonch district at around 12:30 pm, Defence Spokesman SN Acharya said.
Indian troops gave an equal calibre retaliation, resulting in exchanges that stopped at around 1:40 pm, he said, adding there was no report of loss of life or injury. The Indian posts which came under attack are Palli, 485, 485A, Puna and Noyal.
There have been over 90 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops so far this year. Six jawans were killed and 13 people injured in ceasefire violations and firing by Pakistani troops in forward posts and civilian areas and on patrol parties along the border in over a month.
