Islamabad: Pakistan has banned Youtube after it refused to block the American movie “Innocence of Muslims” which is alleged to be anti-Islam. Earlier Pakistan urged Youtube to remove the controversial clips of the movie from the site.

But after the denial from Youtube, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf ordered to block the video sharing site in Pakistan. In a similar move, Pakistan earlier banned Facebook and Youtube in 2007 for allegedly telecasting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.

According to reports, India has also banned the American movie “Innocence of Muslims”. Government of India appealed to Google to remove the controversial contents of the movie from their site so that protests do not break out here in India. Google acted on the appeal made by the Government of India and blocked the controversial film.

It is worth telling that violent protests are taking place across Islamic nations against the American film.

Syed Akbaruddin, Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs of India, condemned all acts that hurt religious sentiments of the people and said that Google, abiding by the Indian laws, has blocked all the objectionable contents. He also added that India is in continuous touch with American officials over this sensitive issue.

There had been massive protest in last couple of weeks against the movie in the Arab nations as well as in some of the Asian countries. Violent protests are still being reported from countries like Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Lebanon, Tunisia and India governed Kashmir.

According to sources, one man has been killed in the violent protests in Pakistan. Whereas a local press club was set on fire in Upper Dir district and police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the protesters in Karachi.

On the other hand, thousands of violent protestors torched cars and opened fire at the police in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan. In Jakarta, protestors hurled Petrol Bombs and stones outside the American embassy.
