Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said Pakistan reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

"No cause justifies targeting of diplomatic missions. It is a matter of relief that no one from the Consulate staff was hurt," she said in a statement here.

The attack comes at a time when India has extended invitation to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to attend swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi.

Gunmen armed with heavy weapons including rocket propelled grenades attacked the Indian Consulate in Afghanistan's Herat province during which three attackers were killed. All the diplomatic staff were safe.
