Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a National Assembly session on Monday afternoon, a news chennel reported.

The President summoned a session of the lower of Pakistan's Parliament on the advice of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on January 21, a President House release said.

The session, to be held at 4 pm, will deliberate on the political situation prevailing in the country. The country has been witnessing massive turmoil in the wake of Pakistan-born Canadian cleric Tahirul Qadri's protest along with tens of thousands of his supporters near Parliament in Islamabad to seek dissolution of Parliament, ouster of the government and a corruption-free country. The protest was called off after three days on Thursday night.

The Supreme Court order to arrest the Prime Minister and 15 others, including senior officials, in a corruption case added to the uncertain political situation.
