Jaipur: An upward swing is being recorded in Pakistan sponsored cross-border infiltration as military intelligence has detected frequency of a satellite phone in Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu districts of Rajasthan.

The investigations have revealed that the satellite phone has been constantly in use, moving from Pakistan bordering Gajsinghpur to Churu district.

The Army has issued an alert in this regard while the CID (Zone) has also written to the Superintendents of three districts to exercise caution.  Local police and security agencies are involved in tracing the whereabouts of the satellite phone as presence of terrorists or a spy cannot be ruled out.

For the record, the use of satellite phone is allowed in a few selected countries only. Though India allows its use, but a civilian has to acquire a mandatory permission from the government.

It has been revealed that the majority of satellite phones caught in terrorist attacks belong to companies based in the United Arab Emirates. Similar satellite phones were discovered in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks too.

Meanwhile, the Army has arrested five illegal Pakistani immigrants in Jaisalmer, including two women, who are being interrogated by the security agencies.
