Lahore: At least two persons were killed and 10 others injured when a blast ripped through a platform at the crowded railway station in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore on Tuesday.

Police officials and witnesses told the media that the explosion occurred on platform number 2 of the railway station at about 6.40 pm.

Witnesses said at least two persons were killed and 10 others injured by the blast. The blast was heard from several kilometres away. The nature of the explosion could not immediately be ascertained.

Security forces cordoned off the railway station and surrounding areas after the blast. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
