As people in Jammu and Kashmir voted for the Lok Sabha polls, Pakistan on Thursday had said any election in the state is not a substitute for plebiscite.

"Absolutely not," said Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam when asked if the election in the state was an alternative to a plebiscite.

India has on several occasions has accused Pakistan of violating the bilateral ceasefire, which in the past had thwarted any kind of peace talks between the two neighbouring nations.
