Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing at Pital post of the BSF in Arnia sub-sector of RS Pura sector of the International border in Jammu district on Wednesday," a BSF source said.

"Eight people - two junior officers, two constables and four labourers - were injured. One of these, a critically injured trooper identified as constable Sanjay Dhar, has died," he added.

Pakistani Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing on forward Pittal border outpost along International Border in Arnia forward area of RS Pura in Jammu district around 11:15 am, a BSF officer said.

Senior BSF officials have reached the area to take stock of the situation.

The BSF guards the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir, while the Line of Control (LoC) is guarded by the army.
