Mohd Kassim, hailing from Karachi, arrived here in 2009 on a three-month visa. However, he was arrested from his uncle's home on 8th August 2011, for living in India even after the expiry of his visa term.

Kassim was convicted by a court in May this year and completed his sentence on 8th August.

However, he is in police custody in Badin police barrack since then and is awaiting his repatriation to Pakistan, Police Line Inspector Vijay Singh said.

The Muzaffarnagar police has sought permission from the Union Home Ministry to hand him over to his country, Singh said.
