Colombo: Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas begins a two-day official visit to Sri Lanka on Sunday to seek support for the Palestine cause.

Abbas, who is expected to arrive at the Bandaranaike international airport here close to midnight, is to be received by Foreign Minister G L Peiris, ministry sources said.

Abbas will have an official meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday.     Two agreements are set to be inked during the visit of Abbas.

Rajapaksa has been pioneering the cause of Palestine for decades in Sri Lanka as the chief of the Sri Lanka- Palestine Solidarity Movement in the country.
