Chandigarh: Hours after he took oath as the Chief Minister  of Punjab, 85-year-old SAD leader Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday termed the Rail Budget as ‘directionless’ and accused the Centre of ignoring the state in the budget.

“The anti-Punjab stance of Congress has once again come to the fore as it has deliberately ignored the interest of the border state in the rail budget,” he said.

When asked to react on the rail fare hike, he said that the proposed hike in railway fare is highly deplorable.

“It will increase burden on common man. The budget is anti-people in which Punjab was totally ignored,” Badal added.

Badal further said, “The state government has been cooperating with the Railways at different levels for the extension of Kolkata-Ludhiana railway freight corridor to Amritsar. But the Centre ignored our all efforts in this regard.”

The Rail Budget was presented by Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi on Wednesday in the Lok Sabha.
