Kolkata: West Bengal Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee will look after the administrative work of RITES (the consultancy firm under the Railway Ministry) in the absence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is going on an official visit to the districts of North Bengal.

Banerjee on Monday started her weeklong tour to the districts of North Bengal in a bid to assay the actual progress of development works after coming to power.

According to the sources from RITES, before going for the visit the Chief Minster had instructed the ministers to complete the work under it on time. Moreover, she has given the responsibility of RITES on Chatterjee.

It may be noted that the West Bengal Industrial Development Authority and Industries Department is outside the ambit of RITES.

Banerjee will return Kolkata on October 13 and leave for Jhargram on October 14. She will address a gathering in Jangalmahal on October 15 and finally resume the office on October 16.
