Gadkari will meet prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar along with party president Rajnath Singh and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Wednesday to discuss the post poll scenario.

When asked about the role for Advani, one of the founder members of the party, Gadkari said, "Atalji and Advaniji are our founder members, our most senior leaders. The party's parliamentary board will take an appropriate decision at an appropriate time."

"Rajnath Singh is our party president, Modi is our prime ministerial candidate, but the guidance of Advaniji is very important," he added.

The BJP leaders will also be discussing the possibility of seeking the support of some allies including the BJD, AIADMK and NCP.

The party has already made it clear that it is not averse to receiving the support from any party which even has a single MP and will welcome it if it supports the BJP agenda.

Senior BJP leaders held a series of meetings in the national capital early in the day. Rajnath Singh met senior party leader Sushma Swaraj at her residence here.

Senior party leaders Arun Jaitley and Amit Shah also held a meeting at Gadkari’s residence to discuss the situation arising out of exit poll results.

Speculation is also rife about some changes in the party if NDA comes to power. Sources in the party feel that there is unlikely to be any change in the party leadership and Rajnath Singh may continue as the party chief, though Gadkari's name is also being floated to replace him.

Sources point out that the RSS has also advised the BJP not to weaken the party in case it forms the government at the Centre.
