"We believe one terrorist is holed up... he is buying time... we are carrying out operation to neutralise him," a senior Indian Air Force officer said. The IAF officer said some grenades were lobbed from the bushy areas which were reverted by firing by security personnel.

The entire area in which the suspected terrorist is hiding is under seize of security personnel, he said. "The operation to flush out the suspected terrorist is on," he said, adding that initially after around five hours gun battle there was brief silence in the area of operation.

However, fresh firing started after few minutes, he said. In a pre-dawn attack, a group of heavily-armed Pakistani terrorists, suspected to belong to Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit, struck at an Air Force base here in Punjab, leading to a fierce gun battle in which three security personnel were killed along with four attackers.
