New Delhi: Albeit, Patna is not incorporated in the Centre’s list for Metro rail expansion, Bihar has already started its preparations and would send a proposal worth Rs 8000 crore to the Union Urban Development Ministry in next couple of days.

According to sources, Bihar government has already prepared the Request for Proposal for the Patna Metro Rail project and is planning to send it for the cabinet’s approval.

The first phase plan includes two routes; Danapur to Patna city and Saguna Mode to Fraser Road.
Bihar government is anticipating that they can get a help of Rs 1600 crore as viability fund gap from the Centre, which is 20 percent of the estimated amount. Rest they are planning to collect from the PPP mode.

The advisor to Planning Commission, Gajendra Haldea, has already visited Patna.

On Thursday, Kamal Nath had announced expansion of Metro Trains to those cities where the population is more than 20 lakhs but Patna was not included in the list as no proposal was sent from Bihar.
