Shimla:  Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday launched Pawan Hans chopper services for the tribal areas in the state. Earlier, the services were being provided by private company Mexco.

The decision was taken in the recent state cabinet meeting that M/s Pawan Hans a Government of India undertaking will provide the services. According to government spokesperson, the helicopter will start its first maiden flight to Dodra Kwar on 8th January.

The spokesperson further stated that the 26-seater chopper will proved to be beneficial to the Tribals of the state. This service will benefit the people in Chamba, Lahaul and Spiti districts and far flung areas of Dodra Kwar in Shimla. During the snowfall, such areas remain cut from rest of the country.
