New Delhi: It has been more than a year since the Commonwealth Games 2010 got over but surprisingly payments for the work done during the games are pending till date. In the face of ongoing probe into the misappropriation of funds during the games the government agencies have blocked payments worth several crores to be made to private companies.

According to CAG report, Rs 3664.22 crore was invested in 40 projects of the Commonwealth Games 2010. Out of which payments worth Rs 2842.08 crore was made to the private companies whereas a whopping sum of Rs 622.14 crore is still pending.

Till date no payments have been made by the Delhi government in projects related to Baramula flyover, UP link road, Ring road bypass and many other projects. A large sum of money is outstanding to the companies which carried out the renovation work at Connaught place.

Commenting on the payment issue, PWD’s Sudhir Kumar said, “Only Rs 150 crore of payment is outstanding whereas the rest of the amount has been cleared.”

According to official sources, all the payments will be made by March 31 this year. Since the Shunglu Committee report and the CAG report are pending in the CWG scam, it is believed that the government agencies have been pressurized not to make any payments till the judgement has been passed.
