The urine sample collected from Hasan was subsequently analysed at a World Anti-Doping Agency accredited laboratory and was found to have returned an "adverse analytical finding". The results were relayed to the PCB, who banned Hasan on the basis of their anti-doping rules. The board declined to name the substance.

Raza was notified of the test results on March 24 and subsequently failed to send a written request for a hearing within 14 days, the PCB said.

"Therefore in accordance with the Anti-Doping Rules and with the approval of the competent authority, Mr. Raza Hassan (Hasan) is being imposed with a ban that will make him ineligible to participate in the sport of cricket for a period of two years," the board said.

The 22-year old Hasan has played 10 Twenty20 matches for Pakistan, having made his debut in September 2012.
