Jammu: The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed reiterated his commitment to bring Kashmiri Pundits back to the Valley and said the migrants will play an important role in the politics of the state.

“PDP’s main motive is not to acquire power in the state. The party wants to bring Kashmiri Pundits back to the valley and ensure justice for them. For the development of the state the Kashmiri migrants have to be brought back to their native place,” Mufti said.

On Sunday, after meeting the representatives of Kashmiri Pundits Association from different regions, Mufti sought assistance from the community to bring changes in the state. Recollecting the contributions made by Kashmiri Pundit leaders like Shaam Lal Saraf, PN Bajaj, Kashyap Brothers and DP Dhar to promote democratic values in the state, Mufti said his party stands by the community and wants to give them justice.

He said, “In 2002 when PDP came to power in Jammu and Kashmir, the state was in a deplorable condition. It was the policies of the PDP that brought peace in the Valley and gave a push to the overall development.”

Meanwhile, senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Beg said Kashmir is incomplete without Kashmiri Pundits. He assured that the PDP will create positive conditions to bring the Pundits back to their native place with full dignity. On the occasion Mohammed Dilawar Meer, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Basharat Bukhari, Abdul Haq, Ramesh Kaul and Rajendra Manhas were also present.
