Jammu: The president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti demanded CBI probe into the embezzlement of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) funds. She alleged that officials of lower ranks are being made scapegoat to save high profile people who were involved in wrongdoing.

“The swindling of JKCA funds was in the cognizance of Farooq Abdullah and he was hand in gloves with the other officials,” said Mufti.

As Assembly proceedings began this morning, PDP     legislators led by Mehbooba, who is also Leader of Opposition, raised the issue of alleged financial bungling in JKCA.

Addressing the media after staging walk out from the assembly, the PDP president said it is not an ordinary scam. “We have all the documents related to JKCA which projects the role of former Chief Minister of the state and present Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy in siphoning off funds,” said Mufti.

“Farooq Abdullha has played the role similar to one by A Raja in 2G scam, Kalamadi in CWG scam and former Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa’s role in illegal mining. However, action cannot be taken against Farooq like other accused owing to Central government’s guidelines,” she added.

Meanwhile, Union minister Farooq Abdullah lashed out at Opposition parties in Jammu and Kashmir for "presenting wrong facts" about the functioning of the
JKCA. Reacting to Mehbooba's allegations against him, Farooq said she should check facts before making charges.

"I am too clean for Mehbooba Mufti to rub dirt on me," he said, adding, "Law will take its own course." The Union Minister reiterated there was no embezzlement of any funds.
