Peace Party Chief Dr Ayub who claims to emerge as a major stake holder in the race for government formation in Uttar Pradesh is contesting from Khalilabad Assembly constituency in Sant Kabir Nagar district of the state.

He is pitted against five other Muslim candidates like Abdul Kalam of SP, Mashhoor Alam of BSP, Shabbir Hussain of NCP, Mohd Haroon from All India Minorities Front and Esrar as independent on this seat.

The challenges being thrown by the Muslim candidates to the Peace Party chief has turned the battle of ballot for this constituency very interesting. The Peace Party has recently gained substantial votes in the eastern parts of UP and Awadh region during recent by-polls and has struck alliance with other smaller parties like Apna Dal, Quami Ekta Dal, Justice Party and some other smaller groups. Seeing the influence of the alliance and Peace Party, it is believed that they are going to play a spoiler role in the state assembly.

Peace Party which is being termed as dark horse in the UP Assembly polls, came in limelight in 2009 Lok Sabha elections when its candidates performed well in five Lok Sabha constituencies of eastern UP. Again in Domariyaganj by-poll in 2010, Peace Party candidate had polled more votes than that of the Samajwadi Party and the Congress candidates.
