New Delhi: Taking the assembly polls as prestige issue, the Samajwadi Party has issued strict warnings to its leaders and party workers, "Perform or perish". With two phases of polling yet to be held, the SP has made it clear that if the party candidates trail during the counting on certain booths, action will be taken against the leaders entrusted with the task of ensuring victory of the nominees. They will lose the party posts besides being denied tickets in future. All the 403 seats will be assessed on this basis.

SP general secretary and spokesman Ram Gopal Yadav told Dainik Jagran, “The elections are acid test for not only the party but also for the office bearers. Therefore, their performance will also be appraised  in these polls.”

This will be helpful in identifying the leaders who hog the limelight to impress the national leadership but lack political ground.

He said, “The party is making all stops to form the government in Uttar Pradesh. Only loyal and faithful leaders will be promoted in the party organisation. Opportunists wait to join the winning party for their vested interest. The SP is in no mood to induct such leaders to the party fold.”

The party is planning to review the performance of such leaders after the polls. According to Yadav, only those leaders, who have contributed to candidates’ victory, will be provided with coveted posts.

The SP is putting all its efforts to grab maximum number of seats in the remaining two phases of elections in western Uttar Pradesh.
