New Delhi: The lawyer of the petitioner of Ranchi anti-encroachment drive on Thursday apologised to the Supreme Court for claiming wrong details about Jharkhand Chief Justice (CJ).

Dushyant Dave, Mohammed Shakeel’s lawyer, claimed that the Jharkhand CJ was absent from the court for over a week.

Responding to this claim, Jharkhand High Court lashed out at Shakeel’s lawyer, saying that the CJ was on leave on Wednesday, but has joined the office on Thursday.

Shakeel’s lawyer had putforth before the Apex Court that Jharkhand CJ was unavailable for a week hence they were unable to present their case. The Supreme Court, therefore, asked the petitioner to file a legal suit in the court within two days.

Replying on behalf of the Jharkhand High Court, lawyer Ajit Kumar Sinha informed the bench headed by DK Jain that the Chief Justice was now sitting in the court.

Realising his mistake, Dushyant Dave submitted apologies before the bench stating that he was misinformed.
