A disaster that shook two neighbouring countries-- India and Pakistan-- was devastating floods in September triggered due to heavy rainfall in Kashmir, India. Heavy downpour soaked Jammu & Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir causing widespread destruction. Taking away as many lives of 557 people (277 in India and 280 in Pakistan), the India-Pakistan floods also affected almost 2,550 villages. As per reports, 390 out of 2,600 affected villages were completely submerged in India. Many parts of Srinagar, including the Border Security Force headquarters in India, were inundated. More than 1.1 million people in Pakistan were affected by the floods. Also, heavy rainfall triggered landslides at many place affecting the rescue and relief operation. Damaging several roads, buildings, bridges and crops, the India-Pakistan floods left a trail of destruction behind.
