Waking Ned Devine (1998): Starring Fionnula Flanagan, David Kelly, and Ian Bannen, and directed by Kirk Jones. Jackie (Ian Bannen) and Michael (David Kelly) are best friends. One day they learn that one of their fellow villagers has won the Irish National Lottery's Lotto game. Jackie's wife Annie (Fionnula Flanagan) joins them to identify the winner. After much effort, it is revealed that Ned Devine (Jimmy Keogh) is the lucky recipient.

The trio goes to Ned’s house and find him dead, sitting in front of the TV with the winning ticket still in his hand. The dead body has a smile on his face indicating that Ned had died of a shock. Michael and Jackie call the National Lottery and make the claim who send a claim inspector. The inspector finds Jackie and asks him about Ned's address. Jackie holds the inspector while Michael rushes to Ned’s cottage so he can pretend to be Ned.

All this while, they learn that the lottery amount is really huge so they have no choice but to draw in all the villagers to hoodwink the inspector. The villagers indulge into a variety of tricks to fool the inspector. The inspector is satisfied that the claim is genuine. As they get the amount, the villagers go up to a hill and raise a cheer to Ned for his gift.

Malamaal Weekly (2006): Directed by Priyadarshan and starring Om Puri, Paresh Rawal, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Reema Sen, this is simply overboard and slapstick. Just could not believe that seasoned actors like Om Puri and Paresh Rawal could go on hamming, and hamming.
