Noida: People of Greater Noida will soon have a reason to cheer with the Noida Authority mulling to prepare a new Detail Project Report (DPR) for the project with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

After the problem got over in connection with Noida extension case, the Noida Authority has started working on the ambitious metro project of the Greater Noida. For this purpose, a DPR will be prepared afresh. A meeting will soon be convened between the Authority officials with their DMRC counterparts.

Given the poor financial condition of the Authority, the authority is likely to initiate the project on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis.

According to Noida Authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rama Raman, the file of the Greater Noida Metro project could not proceed thanks to the Noida extension crisis.

Earlier in 2010, a DPR had been made for connecting the Metro from Noida City Centre to Greater Noida via Noida Expressway. The DMRC had been entrusted with the task for preparing a DPR in this regard. At that time, the estimated cost was at Rs 5,000 crore.

Raman further made it clear that the cost of Metro construction has increased during the last two years, therefore a new DPR will be made. The DMRC has been assigned with preparing a new DPR.
