Chandigarh: Setting aside the plea of seeking to stop former cricketers from making special comments about their alleged roles in match fixing, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday slapped a fine on the petitioner Kuldeep Singh of Gurgaon.

The high court bench questioned that what benefit the common man will get through such writ petition?
The bench also reprimanded the lawyer of petitioner. In the petition, it was said that those commentators, who themselves are accused of match fixing, are making comments on Doordarshan during the cricket match.

The names of several former cricketers including former captian Azharuddin, Nayan Mongia and Ajay Jadeja were mentioned in the petition.

Petitioner sought to put a ban on Azaharuddin from making any such comments. In addition to it, chief selector of Badodra was also blamed.
