Lucknow: BJP president Nitin Gadkari and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitely on Monday came out with scathing attack on United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and held Prime Minister Manmohan Singh solely responsible for the rampant corruption and scams unearthed during the UPA regime.

Gadkari and Jaitely were addressing the one day meeting of Legal and Legislative Cell of BJP on Sunday. The leaders also accused the UPA government of indulging in appeasement politics when it comes to acting against terrorism.

They recalled the 2G scam, CWG scam, Afzal Guru Execution and Batla House encounter case while counting the failures of UPA Government.

“Commonwealth Games are the biggest example of corruption. Players don’t have playgrounds to practice in this country but government went on to construct a Rupees 980 crore stadium to host the games. Workers were called from Australia even for fixing tiles,” Gadkari highlighted.

He continued his criticism saying that the though the former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi is behind bars for this role, PM and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi can’t wash-off their hands from their responsibility for the scams.

Accusing the Central government for indulging in appeasement politics, Gadkari said that the government has failed on the front of providing both external and internal security.

Targeting the Central government for delaying the execution of Afzal Guru, Gadkari expressed shock that the government is not making an example of the Parliament attack at a time when terrorists are infiltrating in India from across the border.

Echoing the views of Gadkari, Arun Jaitely who inaugurated the meeting said, “Big issues in Commonwealth scams are yet to come.”
On Lokpal issue Jaitely said that there should be an independent and unbiased application of Lokpal.
