"I remind the public and the Central government that if an understanding (on the ceasefire) with Pakistan could be reached in the Vajpayee era, a similar agreement can and needs to be negotiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi," senior PDP leader and MLC Vikramaditya Singh cited.

Singh expressed grave concern over the recent violations of the 2003 ceasefire agreement along border areas of Jammu, including Samba, Poonch, Rajouri, R S Pura and Arnia sectors. He said that his sympathies and prayers are with the families of the three civilians killed and nearly 20 injured in the most recent unprovoked firings by Pakistan Rangers in R S Pura and Arnia sectors.

Singh added he had appealed to the Government of India to expedite the process for a peaceful resolution concerning ceasefire violations as innocent civilians on both sides of the border have been facing severe casualties.
