Wishing the people of Assam, Modi said: "On Bohag Bihu, heartfelt greetings to my sisters and brothers of Assam."

On Poila Boishakh, Modi extended his greetings to "all Bengali friends", saying "have a great year ahead, Shubho Nabo Barsho".

Wishing the people of Kerala on the occasion of Vishu, the Prime Minister said: "May the coming year bring joy and prosperity in your lives.

"He also wished Odia "sisters and brothers on Maha Vishuba Sankranti", and said: "I pray for a wonderful year ahead, full of prosperity and joy.

"My best wishes to my Tamil friends on Puthandu. I pray that the coming year marks the fulfilment of all your wishes and brings happiness," he said.
