On his arrival, the prime minister was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Union Ministers Ananth Kumar and Kalraj Mishra.
 
The Prime Minister has a packed itinerary. He will also start the renovation work of a fertilizer factory which has been closed for the last three decades.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister visited Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur and addressed a gathering. He unveiled the statue of former BJP MP and Hindu Mahasabha president Mahanta Avaidyanath and recalled his association with him.
 
“It's my privilege that I had the opportunity to unveil the statue of Avaidyanathji who is inspiration to all of us. This land is special. Be it Gautam Budhha, Mahavira or Kabir, they all have had an unbreakable bond with this land in some way or other,” said PM Modi.

“Our saints and seers, they are very noble and have always been compassionate towards society and the poor,” he said.

PM Modi also added, “I have seen so many saints and seers have immersed themselves towards furthering cleanliness and building toilets.”

He will later address a public meeting in Gorakhpur.
