Gurgaon: The Gurgaon Police is all set to combat the problems created by female drunk drivers. On the direction of the Police Commissioner, a 50-member anti-drunk ladies cell has been formed. This cell will test drunk female drivers with alcometer.

The cell has five teams, who would be deployed near plaza, malls, beer bars and famous hotels to check female drunk drivers.

According to sources, among 12,000 people caught for drunk driving this year, nearly 300 were women.
If the investigation is done properly without any flexibility for ladies, at least 20 or 30 women drunk drivers will be caught daily, the police said.

At police check points men drunk drivers give driving seats to their female friends and escape investigation.

“There are 50 female police in the cell, they will check at main points of the areas,” said Police Commissioner KK Sindhu.

Author of this plan, DCP (traffic) Bharti Arora said, “Man or woman, law is same for everyone.”

“If anyone is caught for drunk driving even for two times, their licenses will be cancelled and their pictures will be uploaded on Facebook. This campaign will be more active during weekends,” she added.
