Saharsa: In order to curb the rampant corruption in Public Distribution System, the Saharsa police on Sunday seized 5,000 jute sacks of public distribution rice, which was to be illegally sold in the black market.

Acting on a tip off, District Magistrate Devrak Dev raided six go-downs of Tiwari Teela Chauk and sealed them.

The officials of district and police administration seized two trucks loaded with rice jute sacks having tag of Food Corporation of India. 

The rice was pilfered and to be sold in the black market. However, the truck drivers fled from the spot.

Before lodging an FIR, the administration is preparing the inventory list of the food grains to supplied via public distribution system.
